Soliris
What is Soliris?
Soliris is a biologic infusion that is used to treat a variety of autoimmune diseases that can affect the brain, blood cells, eyes, and spinal cord.
While these autoimmune diseases affect a variety of organ systems and tissues within the body, they are all debilitating and can lead to disability progression.
However, the autoimmune diseases that can be treated with Soliris share overactive proteins found in the body’s complement system, which is responsible for cleaning up damaged cells and helping the body heal after injury or infection.
Inhibiting activation of these proteins, specifically, C5a and C5b can lessen symptoms and prevent relapse in these rare autoimmune diseases.
What does Soliris treat?
- Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH)
- Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS)
