Cerezyme (imiglucerase) treats Gaucher (‘go-shay’) disease. Cerezyme is an enzyme replacement therapy (ERT), and works to replace the deficient enzyme in patients with Gaucher disease. This has been shown to improve the symptoms and quality of life for those affected by the condition. Read more to learn about Cerezyme infusion, cost, side effects and benefits.
Gaucher Disease is a rare genetic condition that causes slow buildup of fatty toxins in organs and tissues throughout the body. When unhealthy cells are found in the body, they get broken down by enzymes, releasing toxins that the body must dispose of.
The GBA gene helps produce the enzymes in the body that break down and recycle these toxic substances. In Gaucher disease, there is a genetic mutation of the GBA gene, resulting in a build-up of harmful toxins. These abundant toxins begin damaging otherwise healthy tissues, causing organ swelling, vision problems, anemia, breathing problems, and fatigue.
Cerezyme works by replacing the missing glucocerebrosidase enzyme to help rid the body of toxic waste. This improves blood, bone, organ, and other tissue problems. Cerezyme has been used for over 25 years and is the only enzyme replacement therapy that has shown long-term benefits and safety.

Cerezyme cost can vary depending on several factors including insurance status and insurance provider. At Pure Infusion Suites, we are committed to lowering costs and improving access for our patients. Our team of patient access coordinators are here to set you up for success.
We work with a growing list of insurance providers, and are always working to ensure claims/authorizations are processed efficiently. All patients are enrolled in co-pay assistance programs to assist in covering costs of treatment.
Additionally, data from an Artemetrx report shows average costs at an outpatient hospital facility are more than 3X higher than costs at an ambulatory infusion center. That means we save our patients’ money, while offering a more comfortable experience!
Before your infusion, it is important to drink plenty of water and come to your appointment hydrated. Additionally, you must alert us as soon as possible to any changes in your insurance to ensure that we are still an in-network provider for your infusion therapy.
