What is Cinqair?
Cinqair is an add- on medication used to control and prevent symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath caused by eosinophilic asthma. Cinqair belongs to a class of drugs known as monoclonal antibodies. It works by reducing the production of eosinophils cells.
While eosinophils cells are vital white blood cells that are responsible for fighting off infections and parasites, people with severe asthma have been shown to have an elevated eosinophils count. Current research suggests that eosinophils cells my contribute to inflammation and airway obstruction is asthma patients.
